WHAT IS A MAGAZINE?
A MAGAZINE IS A "PERIODICAL PUBLICATION" (THAT COULD HAVE DIFFERENT SINGERS, CELEBRITIES as well as ACTORS) THAT IS RELEASED FREQUENTLY, COMMONLY ONCE PER WEEK OR ONCE A MONTH. MAGAZINES ARE ALL DIFFERENT BUT MOSTLY ALL OF THEM CONTAIN STORIES, IMAGES, DIFFERENT ARTICLES BASED ON THE MAGAZINE'S GENRE AND ( DIFFERENT PRODUCTS OR SOMETIMES DIFFERENT LIFE STYLES).
MAGAZINES FIRST BECAME POPULAR IN THE MID 19TH CENTURY, THAT IS WHEN THEY FIRST GAINED THE MOST POPULARITY AND PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY ENTERTAINED LOOKING AND READING THEM. REGARDING THE POPULARITY OF THE MAGAZINES IN THE 19TH CENTURY THEY WERE CREATED LONG BEFORE THAN.

About true Detective
The "true detective mysteries" magazines were founded in 1924 by publisher Bernarr Macfadden. The magazines were focused on MYSTERY fiction, with a range of non fiction crime stories. They had different NARRATIVES with crimes that happened over the years explaining them all step by step. In the 1930s Macfadden realised that the non-fiction NARRATIVES became more popular and people enjoyed them more than the mystery fiction. so thinking about it he came to a conclusion in the year 1941, that he should change the magazines name to " true detective" so a lot more people will be interested in them. The new magazines, true detective became filled with real murder cases and criminals which entertained the readers even more. Furthermore the magazine seriously thought about PERUSING real literature, even made some well respected and well known writers at that time such as Dashiell Hammett, Jim Thompson, and Ann Rule explore the writing TECHNIQUE to see if it will make the magazines gain fame.

Later in the years, Bernarr Macfadden found out that the magazines were serious COMPETITORS to the all time popular magazines " Pulp fiction" which a lot of working class people were attracted to. In 1930s and 40s the true detective magazines reached a peak of selling around 2 million copies. Due to the time period the magazine was active there was no marketing available.

The theory that true detective uses in my opinion is Blumer+ katz, surveillance due to the fact that they are making the magazines to make people REALISE the world we are living in and Feed peoples minds with information that they are interested in or just want to have some KNOWLEDGE on. Another part of the Blumer+ katz theory that the magazine also uses is diversion. this is due to the fact that for some people reading true murder crimes is a form of relaxation and escaping the world they are living in. some people might watch a movie to relax or read a magazine based on true murders, depending on the INTERESTS a person has.
The true detective magazines also inspired a lot more writers, that imitated Macfadden's work. moreover he also created another publication called " master detective" from which other writers developed more than 200 true crime magazines from the year 1960.
This are just 3 examples of the copies the other writers produced.
as you can see the products look similar to Macfadden's work, even though there are different murder cases and stories from different parts of the world.
The true detective magazines were also advertised in newspapers which in my opinion made them gain the fame they got. It spread the word and a lot more people became curious in them and made them buy the magazines.
Saddly, by the 80s, true detective magazine sales started to decline do to the SEXUALISED content and decline in quality. By that decline it was one of 11 magazines that was still printing and selling. Furthermore by 1995, the magazine's content was bought to the attention of Globe communications. Later that year, the magazine was no longer available to buy do to the graphic writing and photography it had. Some people still continued to make the true detective magazines under a different format in europe.

The crime magazines cost between 4-7 dollars depending on the murder cases in the magazines and how much information they actually give. The theory that the real crime magazine uses is Blumer and Katz's Personal relationship theory. This is because as the magazine is advertised all around social media a lot of people will be sharing interests throughout media and form social connections.
